OMAHA, NE (11-16-2023) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) will be sponsoring a billboard in Nebraska to remind one of Joe Biden’s Favorite Republicans that failing to protect innocent preborn life – especially after promising to do so – comes at a political cost.
“Earlier this year, the much-lauded Nebraska Heartbeat Act stalled out because of the actions of Senator Merv Riepe,” said Hawkins. “This State Senator joined pro-abortion Democrats to stop Nebraska’s Heartbeat Abortion Prevention Act and single-handedly blocked this pro-life legislation from passing. This happened despite his pledge during the election to support Life at Conception legislation. We have not forgotten that, and we’re going to ensure that those the state of Nebraska and his local community don’t either.”

As more than 9 in 10 abortions take place by 12 weeks (about 3 months), the current state of Nebraska’s abortion laws ensures most preborn children remain at risk.
The Billboard will be located close to the road in Southwest Omaha, near the Oak View Mall at the crossroads of NE S and S Q Streets.
In addition to the billboard, SFLAction will be kicking off a door knocking campaign, launching digital ads in the state, and beginning a long-term texting campaign to hold Riepe accountable and continuously call on him to resign.
“Our own You Gov/Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement polling shows that heartbeat abortion limits and limits when a baby can feel pain, poll basically the same,” said Hawkins. “Any argument that this would’ve been more politically acceptable is utter nonsense. It is merely moral cowardice, nothing more.”
