Radical pro-choice Democrats in Virginia just lost a major battle entering election season.
The Supreme Court of Virginia issued a landmark ruling this morning, striking down a newly proposed congressional redistricting map. The map would have given Democrats a 10-1 advantage in congressional races in the state, a dramatic shift from the previous 6-5 ratio of the previous map.
Student leaders from Students for Life of America (SFLA) chapters in Virginia fought tirelessly to prevent the map from being implemented to keep Democrats from silencing pro-life voices in the state.
In the narrow 4-3 ruling, the court found that the Democrats’ violated state procedural requirements to pass the map. The Democrats wrongfully attempted to implement the map through a ballot initiative when the state constitution requires it be done by a redistricting commission or court-appointed special masters.
Furthermore, the court found that the Virginia Democrats used an over $64 million campaign to wrongly justify taking this ballot imitative shortcut to bypass any potential bipartisan input a commission would bring.
The court returned the map to the 6-5 map drawn by special masters in 2021. This is a massive win for pro-life voters in the commonwealth.
Virginia’s Democratic party has become ruthless and extreme in its pro-abortion schemes. Most recently, the Democrats in the Virginia State House and Senate moved forward a radical pro-abortion state constitutional amendment that will be on the ballot this fall.
If voters choose to support it, the amendment would make abortion a “fundamental right… that shall not be, directly or indirectly, denied, burdened, or infringed upon.” This includes the right to an abortion in the third trimester if a physician deemed it necessary under the long-debunked myth of abortion being necessary for the health or life of the mother and viability.
This is a massive win for the pro-life movement in our fight against the radical pro-abortion lobby.
