“The mothers and babies of New Hampshire deserve better than the barbarism of abortion,” said SFLAction Vice President of Political Affairs Chanel Jacobs. “Students for Life Action’s pressure and engagement campaign earlier this year ensured that pro-abortion legislation was defeated. Tonight, the side defending preborn lives won again as six pro-life champions overcame their primary opponents, reinforcing that New Hampshire voters reject the abortion extremism of Kamala Harris and the Democrats in their state.”

CONCORD, NH (09-10-2024) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) celebrates the election of six pro-life candidates and incumbents following New Hampshire’s state senate and house primary races. SFLAction Vice President of Political Affairs Chanel Jacobs said, “We achieved major victories in the ‘Live Free or Die’ state earlier this year by defeating two pro-abortion constitutional amendments, thanks to pro-life leaders in the legislature. Tonight, we’ve added six more to their ranks, ensuring a stronger defense against pro-abortion extremism in New Hampshire. In 2025, we’ll continue to expose pro-abortion extremists in both the Democratic and Republican parties, and our students will keep engaging lawmakers, advocating for new protections for women and preborn babies from dangerous Chemical Abortion Pills, which can cause injury, infertility, and even death.”
In this cycle, SFLAction sent 12,482 texts, made 12,128 phone calls, distributed 9,353 pieces of direct mail, and knocked on 1,783 doors to voters in eleven targeted districts, educating them on the records of candidates. Victories in targeted districts include:
- House District 4 – Brian Nadeau
- House District 13 – Stephen Pearson
- House District 16 – Ron Dunn
- House District 16 – Kristine Perez
- House District 25 – James Thibault
- House District 34 – Russ Hodgkins
The defeated candidates, Josh Yokela & David Bickford, were part of a group of sixteen Republicans—dubbed the ‘Bloodthirsty Sixteen’—who joined pro-abortion Democrats in 2023 in an attempt to remove all penalties from New Hampshire’s late-term abortion law, enabling abortion right up to birth.
Bickford was also one of six Republicans who attempted to enshrine abortion into the state Constitution through amendments CACR 23 and CACR 24. which would have allowed abortion after 24 weeks, despite 68% of New Hampshire residents supporting limits on abortion.
To combat this threat to preborn lives, SFLAction was active in New Hampshire throughout 2024, educating voters and engaging lawmakers:
- Ruby Furbish, a nursing student at Gordon College and volunteer with SFLAction, testified against CACR 23 and CACR 24 to the New Hampshire Senate Judiciary Committee

- SFLAction issued a letter to legislators, urging them to vote against the passage of CACR 23 and CACR 24
- Once the laws were defeated, SFLAction VP of Political Affairs Chanel Prunier also penned an op-ed in The New Hampshire Journal, breaking down how close New Hampshire came to becoming a state with no limits on abortion.

Despite the state-level pro-life wins, New Hampshire’s all-Democratic Party Congressional delegation failed to live up to the high ideals of the “Live Free or Die” state, scoring “F’s” on this year’s Pro-Life Generation Report Card, which scored the 118th Congress on key pro-life votes.
Elsewhere in the country, SFLAction recently launched a new website featuring state specific information and resources for grassroots supporters and activists interested in stopping abortion on the ballot this November The site provides state specific information, resources, and messaging kits for the “Vote No” campaign.
