“The Youth Vote isn’t lock step for abortion, as our YouGov poll out this week details,” said SFLAction’s Kristan Hawkins. “Our vote needs to be won with a real commitment to protecting as many lives as possible, as soon as possible.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (01-21-2023) – Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins proclaimed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis the winner in the first straw poll of the 2024 race, held at the National Pro-Life Summit. A sold-out crowd of 2K was invited to cast their votes during the conference until 3:30 p.m. ET “The Youth vote is now one-third of the electorate, and for the first Post-Roe Generation, expectations are high that candidates will compete to show their commitment to protecting life in law and in service,” said Hawkins, adding, “Pro-life voters are looking for a passionate defense of mother and child and a commitment to act. A throwaway line in a speech will not cut it with the Pro-Life Generation.”
Straw Poll voters picked – in order of preference:
Ron DeSantis: 53.73%
Donald Trump: 19.22%
Mike Pence: 7.84%
Nikki Haley: 1.57%

Kristi Noem: .98%
Greg Abbott: .78%
Mike Pompeo: .78%
Glenn Youngkin: .78%
Liz Cheney: .59%
Larry Hogan: .39%
Tim Scott: .2%
Summit attendees voting also weighed in on their preferred legislative priorities. From a list of options, the preference overwhelmingly was for protecting life from day one.
Life at Conception/Fertilization: 94.51%
21-weeks (viability): .39%
Out this week, a YouGov poll for the Demetree Institute of Pro-Life Advancement found that almost 7 in 10 Gen Z & Gen Y registered voters support limits on abortion and more than 9 in 10 oppose Biden’s No Test, Online Distribution of Chemical Abortion Pills, which exposes women to injury, infertility, death, and abusers, who use the drugs against women without their knowledge and consent.
Hawkins recently weighed in on former President Trump’s election comments, in which he blamed Pro-Life Americans for recent GOP losses. Read her piece at FOX, titled: “Donald Trump’ First Abortion Mistake.”

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization and a political and policy operation engaging people of all ages. Together they work to end abortion — the human rights issue of our day — and provide political, legal, and community support for women and their children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA has more than 1,300 groups on middle, high school, college, university, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA creates strategy, policy, and programming to connect those most targeted for abortion with people ready to help and builds a framework for political engagement on their behalf. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with those most targeted by the abortion industry than any other pro-life outreach in the world, reaching more than 2 million people across social media platforms each week and engaging in approximately 100,000 digital conversations per month. Over more than 16 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA into an $18 million organization preparing for a Post-Roe America.
