“We’re thrilled to see Utah’s pro-life coalition strengthening with the re-election of four pro-life champions in the State legislature,” said SFLAction’s Chanel Prunier. “We look forward to working with these leaders to ensure Utah is a place where preborn children are safe, and mothers are supported to choose Life.”

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (06-26-2024) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) celebrates the election of four particularly pro-life incumbents after last night’s Utah Senate and House primary races, SFLAction Vice President of Political Affairs Chanel Prunier said, “There is much work to be done in Utah, where abortion is currently allowed through 18 weeks – almost five months into a pregnancy. These four pro-life leaders that are heading to the general election can help pave the way for badly needed legislation to ensure preborn lives are protected, Chemical Abortion Pill access is restricted, and the safety of mothers and Utah’s natural beauty is protected. We eagerly await the chance to help the Utah legislature advance more pro-life protections in the coming months and years.”

Leading up to the election, SFLAction sent out 38,015 text messages and 26,027 phone calls across six targeted districts educating voters regarding these legislators’ records.
Primary voters nominated the following pro-life legislators who returned the Students for Life Action Candidate Survey:
1. House District 16 – Rep. Trevor Lee re-elected
2. House District 39 – Rep. Ken Ivory
3. House District 67 – Rep. Christine Watkins
4. Senate District 22 –Sen. Heidi Balderree
Recently, SFLAction released its second Pro-Life Generation Report Card, scoring the 118th Congress on key pro-life votes, legislation co-sponsorships, and stances in defense of the preborn this Congressional cycle. The U.S. House of Representatives members and two U.S. senators’ pro-life voting records resulted in an excellent average total score of a “B-” for Utah.

SFLAction’s commitment to shaping a pro-life vision for America is laid out in our GOP for Life campaign. We call on Republican leaders to maintain and defend pro-life laws and protections within the GOP party platform.
