“Limiting abortion at 15 weeks is not a litmus test for the Pro-Life Generation that looks for pro-life advancements to take place as early as possible, as soon as possible, and wherever possible. We are challenging candidates not to offer a bare minimum, but to express their vision of what a Post-Roe America should look like. We want to hear their concrete federal plans and see them address the abortion extremism of their opponents and the Biden Administration,” from Hawkins’ letter to those running for federal office.
WASHINGTON D.C. (08-22-2023) – As the political season kicks off in earnest, Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins sent a letter this week to all the GOP candidates running for the office of President, which will be part of outreach to other federal offices as well, on behalf of SFLAction’s nationwide network of activists who will be voting Pro-Life First. Signers across the country will be also added as SFLAction engages our network. In the letter, she challenges the candidates to welcome all those who make up a winning constituency and proactively include fighting for LIFE in law and in service a top line message, not a throwaway line.
The letter launches a theme for SFLAction’s Stop Abortion Extremism Tour that will be taking place across the country, as well as messaging for another exciting addition to support a Vote-Pro-Life-First effort, an SFLAction launched federal PAC, Stop Abortion Extremism.
For an in-depth look at what’s next for the pro-life movement, read Hawkins Q & A interview in the New York Times from this week.
“The anti-baby bias animating the radical agenda of the Democratic Party is offensive to most Americans,” said Hawkins. “Through the bills supported, the regulations proposed, and the bureaucrats appointed, radical extremism doesn’t begin to describe the lengths that Biden’s Party will go to as they ensure that many babies never take their first step, or their mothers have the support needed for a family. Through the policy Biden’s team supports, the Democratic Party celebrates taxpayer funded abortion through all nine months up to and including infanticide, attacks on parental rights who deserve to know about sterilizing, unalterable surgeries and drugs proposed for young children, as well as suppression of the conscience rights of pro-life medical professionals. The Democratic Party has moved from ‘choice’ to coercion, forcing their love for abortion everywhere they can – from the military to the post office to foreign aid. If the GOP cannot explain this, then come to us, we’re ready to help.”

Highlights from Hawkins’ Letter: “At this moment in time, general consensus is not around a gestational line but centers on an absolute need to articulate a federal vision and specific commitments, in policy, in personnel, in legislation, and in use of the bully pulpit. No vision, no vote.
… “At minimum, any federal elected official arguing that abortion is not federal should be leading the charge for Planned Parenthood’s debarment and full defunding, as well as supporting the return of the Protect Life Rule, and the No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act, to name only a few places to begin.
… “Any politician running for federal office who does not have a federal plan for addressing abortion is disqualified to serve. Any politician whose statements on the abortion issue begin with reasons that they can do nothing and end with why they will do nothing may expect nothing from pro-life voters.
… “The ultimate challenge of the Post-Roe Generation is this – Can you articulate a plan and promise on how to address the human rights issue of our day by protecting life in law and in service and will you challenge your opponents on where they draw their line?”

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest, pro-life youth organization, managing a political and policy operation engaging Americans of all ages but with a special emphasis on the largest segment of voters — the Youth Vote. Together they provide political, legal, educational, and community support for women and children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA serves more than 1,400 groups on middle, high school, college, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with this generation targeted by the abortion lobby than any other pro-life operation in the world, each week reaching more than 4 million across social media platforms and as well as averaging 1.3 million video views. SFLA has also launched multiple initiatives to lead and serve the future of the pro-life movement including the Campaign for Abortion Free Cities, Standing With You, and the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement . Over more than 17 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA and the Pro-Life Generation into a nearly $20M organization, now preparing for an abortion-free America.
