Don’t look now, but the media is starting to make things uncomfortable for Vice President Kamala Harris. Under scrutiny this week is her ideological flip-flops. And you better believe there are a lot.
According to reporting from Roll Call, “For the past three years, Biden has tried and failed to convince voters that “Bidenomics” is working for them. Now it’s Harris’ turn to defend the administration’s policies on inflation and the economy, issues that will be central to the electorate’s assessment of her candidacy.
But presidential candidate Harris enters the race with a significant challenge. As vice president, she cast a critical vote to break a tie in the Senate and allow the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan to move forward toward a final vote. Had it not been for her vote, the bill might never have gotten to Biden’s desk for his signature.”
Harris can run from her record all she wants – not only are there receipts for everything she said she’s against or didn’t do – she single-handedly made them happen as the Senate tie-breaking vote.
From the Associated Press, “Vice President Kamala Harris broke a nearly 200-year-old record for casting the most tiebreaking votes in the Senate when she voted Tuesday to advance the confirmation of a new federal judge in Washington, D.C.”
Let’s take a look at where Harris once stood, stood again, and then stood back from – including the one issue where she has not changed.
Healthcare
- Harris was a co-sponsor on Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ Medicare for All plan, which would have shut down private insurance across the country.
- Later, she said she wasn’t against private health care insurance.
The Border & Immigration
- Arguably her biggest failure as Vice President, Harris was put in charge of handling the “border response” by Joe Biden in 2021. This was confirmed by numerous media outlets, despite efforts to bury this story and her role in it.
- Harris was always an interesting choice given that she’s on record saying that those who crossed the border illegally shouldn’t be treated as criminals.
- Harris advocated for mass amnesty for illegal immigrants.
- She also championed sanctuary cities.
- She also famously compared the border patrol agency ICE to the Klu Klux Klan and wanted to start over from scratch.
- She’s also on record supporting illegal immigrants getting access to Medicare and other government programs.
- Of course, that hasn’t stopped her claiming in a recent political ad that she’s going to fix the mess she helped create or otherwise ignored.
The Economy & Energy
- Harris is on record saying she wants to turn Joe Biden’s economic record into an asset – something that she’s clearly proud of as part of the Biden-Harris administration.
- However – long story short – the economy and energy policy in America is a mess. According to reporting in Roll Call, “Since Biden was inaugurated, prices have overall gone up 20.1 percent. Under Biden-Harris, food prices are up 21.7 percent, electricity up 31.6 percent, and gas prices 48.7 percent.”
- Harris supported a federal jobs guarantee program when she signed onto the radical Green New Deal pushed by far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. This same legislative push would more or less eliminate any energy system that produces emissions.
- But just recently, Harris changed her mind, again, reversing her support for the federal jobs guarantee program.
- Harris also proudly declared she was in favor of banning fracking and offshore drilling – again, part of her Green New Deal push.
- Now according to campaign aides, she’s for fracking – likely to bolster the Pennsylvania vote she needs to win the state.
Social Justice and Crime
- During the 2020 debates, Harris attacked Biden’s record on segregation and bussing – one of her only good debate moments, before former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard sent her packing.
- Yet, she – a black woman – apparently didn’t find that distasteful enough to then take the job working a supposedly racist old white man.
- And even despite Harris’ own record as a racial justice warrior, as attorney general of California she was exceptionally tough on criminals, according to her own bragging.
- Of course, later she was on the defund the police train like many other radical Democrats in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
Abortion
It’s the one area where Harris has stayed true to her beliefs. An extremist from the beginning, Harris has always argued for limitless and unrestricted abortion – not just at the state level but as a matter of national policy.
- The Biden-Harris Administration’s top healthcare policy priority, the Women’s Health Protection Act, would allow abortions to be conducted up until birth nationwide without any ability for the states to push back.
- During a CBS interview in 2023, Harris refused to name a single limit on abortion she would support.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for her rabid extremism on abortion.
