Money Talks: Abortion’s Federal if We Pay For It. SFLAction Supporting Three U.S. House Bills that Can Cut Off Planned Parenthood & Welcomes U.S. Senate Effort;

Students for Life Action Calls on Congress to Advance President-elect Trump’s Agenda of Cutting Back Federal Involvement with Abortion because If We Pay for it, It’s Federal;

SFLAction to Score the Protecting Life & Taxpayers Act, Defund Planned Parenthood Act, and the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act

“The human rights issue of our day – abortion – remains a federal, state, and local concern, as everyone deserves protection from conception to natural death. But step one in enacting President Trump’s agenda of less federal involvement must be to cut off the abortion industry, including debarring and defunding Planned Parenthood. Abortion is federal if we’re paying for it,” said SFLAction’s Kristan Hawkins.

WASHINGTON D.C. (01-23-2025) —Students for Life Action (SFLAction) commends U.S. Rep. Fischbach (R-MN) and U.S. Rep. Foxx (R-NC) for reintroducing in the 119th Congressional session key pro-life legislative measures that would force Planned Parenthood to go fund themselves.

“The abortion industry sells death at a profit, choosing to end the lives of those they say might suffer rather than addressing the suffering. Our nation deserves better,” said SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins. “Our government has acted with prejudice against pro-life Americans and in favor of abortion. Ending the weaponization of the federal government on the abortion issue must begin with our spending and in pardoning peaceful, pro-life protestors. As part of our ongoing effort to tell Planned Parenthood to go fund themselves, SFLAction will deliver a petition to Congress next week with more than 50,000 signatures, asking for Planned Parenthood to be fired.”

Hawkins also praised the efforts of U.S. Senator Rand Paul, who introduced The Defund Planned Parenthood Act this week, noting, “Sen. Rand Paul’s bill to prohibit federal funding of Planned Parenthood represents a significant effort to enact President Trump’s stated agenda of reducing the role of the federal government on the issue of abortion.”

More on the House bills:

The Protecting Life & Taxpayers Act would require federally funded entities to certify that they will not, subject to certain exceptions, commit abortions or provide funding to other entities that perform abortions.

The Defund Planned Parenthood Act would prohibit funding from Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc. or any of its affiliates unless they certify that the affiliates and facilities will not commit and will not provide funds to entities that commit abortions during that year. If the certification requirement is not met, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture must recoup any federal assistance those entities receive.

The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act would prohibit the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from awarding family planning grants to entities that commit abortions or provide funding to other entities that commit abortions. To receive a grant, an entity must certify it will refrain from those activities during the grant period.

Planned Parenthood is not only guilty of ending innocent human life, but they also are known for exploiting women, covering up human sex trafficking, illegally selling baby body parts, committing sex/race-based abortions, failing to follow health and safety standards, and engaging in alleged Medicaid fraud. Planned Parenthood does not deserve one penny of government funding. In light of the fact that Planned Parenthood does not offer full-service medical care and has even cut back on all kinds of actual, non-abortion healthcare, women should be directed to take their healthcare dollars to those many alternative locations where saving lives, not ending lives, is the goal.  Students for Life Action supports the Defund Planned Parenthood Act and urges Congress to take steps actually to defund and debar Planned Parenthood for good. If Members of Congress do not act, they will be hearing from us in Washington and in their districts,” said Hawkins.

SFLAction has hosted multiple Capitol Hill Lobby Days, delivering thousands of petitions and letters, which will continue next week.
