Senator Rubio Plans to Investigate the Sale of Human Remains by Planned Parenthood – What Can Actually Be Done?

The sale of baby parts by Planned Parenthood to Universities and “scientists” evidently remains a major problem after many years and many different video offerings from David Daleiden, project lead at the Center for Medical Progress. The latest report from the group shows how staff transferred for “valuable consideration” to UC San Diego baby body parts and fetal remains.

This isn’t the first time that a university found itself at the center of a similar controversy.

In Spring 2021, Center for Medical Progress released a video showing the disturbing details about government-sponsored, taxpayer-funded “research programs” that utilized aborted baby remains harvested by Planned Parenthood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The University of Pittsburgh argued that it was doing nothing wrong and had no plan to change course.

Just last month, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) held a hearing to discuss the issue of Black-Market Baby Organ Harvesting. Witnesses included pro-life activist Terrisa Bukovinac, one of the co-discoverers of the “Justice for the Five” babies, as well as David Daleiden.

Now, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) wants the government to act, according to reporting by the Washington Examiner

“Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) is demanding an investigation into Planned Parenthood for reportedly selling aborted fetuses to the University of California, San Diego for research purposes.

Rubio wrote a letter on Tuesday to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Christi Grimm, asking them to launch a federal investigation into the relationship.

Rubio claimed that through documents obtained by the Center for Medical Progress via a public records request, it was revealed that Planned Parenthood was transferring aborted fetal body parts to the university for “valuable consideration” while still maintaining intellectual property rights over the fetal tissue.

“If confirmed, this relationship represents a flagrant violation of federal law, which explicitly prohibits the transfer of fetal tissue for any compensation,” he wrote.”

Congress tried to curtail this cruel side business of the nation’s number one abortion vendor before.

In 2015, Congress set up the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, chaired by then Representative, now Sen. Marsha Blackburn, (R-TN), called Planned Parenthood’s then president, Cecile Richards, to testify. Richards defended the practice, saying “Our donation programs, like any other high-quality health care providers, follows all laws and ethical guidelines.” Sen. Blackburn’s work led to 15 criminal referrals related to late-term abortionists, abortion clinics, and tissue procurement businesses.”

As Sen. Rubio continues that noble effort, it’s worth recognizing the people he’s tasking to investigate are Biden administration appointees. And as we’ve noted many times, the Biden administration is the most radically extreme and pro-abortion presidential administration in history. It’s crawling with pro-abortion extremists, from The Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Surgeon General, the Treasury Secretary, and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, among others.

The likelihood that hand-picked Democrat puppets like Garland and Grimm will do anything is near zero. And the Department of Justice has shown they would rather target pro-life groups, Catholic organizations, and families.

While we applaud Sen. Rubio for taking the initiative here, we’re not holding our breath. We hope Biden’s DOJ and HHS do something they rarely do: the right thing. But for now, we do wish Sen. Rubio the best of luck and Godspeed.
