SFLAction Announces Lobby Day at U.S. Capitol as New Congress Takes First Pro-Life Votes to the House Floor

“We’re glad to see pro-life laws being voted on with the start of the new Congress,” said Dustin Curtis, SFLAction Vice President of Political Affairs & Operations. “These bills are just the first steps in achieving a federal response to the issue of abortion and violence endured by many pro-lifers at the hands of the abortion lobby. We look forward to working with Members to introduce and enact life-saving laws at the federal level this year in a post-Roe America to make a lasting difference for the most vulnerable among us.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (01-11-2023) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) announced it will be present at the U.S. Capitol today during a round of votes on pro-life legislation. Already advising Members of the U.S. House of Representatives of its plans to score votes on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protect Act, SFLAction is looking forward to the swift passage of that bill in addition to a resolution condemning recent attacks on the Pro-Life Generation whether that be on campuses, churches, or pregnancy resource centers.

This afternoon, the House is expected to do a roll call vote on H. Con. Res. 3 as well as H.R. 26, a Born-Alive bill that protects survivors of abortion. In a supportive statement of the bill, SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins noted:

“The extremism of the Democratic Party leadership and the abortion lobby in opposing an end to infanticide shows how out of step they are with most Americans. It’s inhumane to stand by while children are allowed to die even as they survive an abortion, and we have the voices of those who have survived that horrific gauntlet allowing us to see the life and death stakes.

“This is long overdue and represents a place to begin in this new year, and the Pro-Life Generation calls on Congress to finally end this human rights atrocity. Ending infanticide should be a place of bi-partisan agreement.”

SFLAction has closely covered the abortion lobby’s ‘summer of rage’ with many noted incidents of violence or threats from abortion extremists. In addition to calling upon the Biden Administration to react in support after these attacks against pro-lifers, the organization says that today’s resolution will help send a message of support to our community of activists.

As noted by The Washington Post, SFLAction is “one of the largest antiabortion organizations in the country,” and has long been preparing legislatively for a Post-Roe America. Fox News recognizes SFLAction “has already been pushing state legislatures” and our growing influence has even reached pro-abortion lead researcher Mary Ziegler who noted the power of our mobilization in The Atlantic.
