SFLAction Celebrates the Passage of Pregnant Students’ Rights Act & the Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act

“This vote should have been an easy one for every politician who claims to care about women’s rights and those in the Democratic Party who voted to keep women in the dark about their legal rights should be ashamed,” said Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins. “Still, this is a great day for the Pro-Life Generation as years of campus advocacy has led to this historic moment – the first SFLAction-inspired federal bill passing the House.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (01-18-2024) — Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins celebrated the passage of two supportive services bills – Pregnant Students’ Rights Act as well as the Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act – in the United States House today, stating:

“The anti-baby bias of so many on college campuses can be seen in how unwilling many are to help pregnant and parenting students. Letting students know about their Title IX rights and the support they are legally entitled to is the least we can do for young mothers. SFLAction will be celebrating this win at the National Pro-Life Summit, where this will inspire another generation of Pro-Life Activists.

“But for those who voted against letting women know about their rights on campus, be warned – this scored vote will be used to make it clear that you don’t respect the needs of women working to balance school and family.

“The cruelty of radical abortion extremists among the Democratic Party is clearly seen in both their opposition to medical care for babies born during botched abortions, and, now, their willingness to cut funds to Pregnancy Care Centers that provide free services like diapers. It takes a heart a lot colder than the current weather to oppose telling pregnant women their legal rights or to fight against funds for free diapers and other services to young families.

“As the YouGov/Students for Life of America’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement polling shows, more than 9 in 10 youth voters want life-saving care to be given to newborns who survive an abortion, and, by margins of more than 6 and 7 in 10, they wanted lots more help for mothers. Congratulations to those in the House who voted to support those volunteering to help young families. ”
