“If you don’t know that abortion is federal, read your receipts, starting with Planned Parenthood’s newly released annual report. The legislation that Sen. Tommy Tuberville is introducing is vital for following the money flowing away from medical care for those in the military toward efforts to end their young families,” said Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins. “The Biden Administration’s weaponization of programs to force abortion must be tracked so that we can reverse the devastation later.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (04-16-2024) – Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins applauded Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) for introducing VA Abortion Transparency Act of 2024, which would require the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to provide reports on their abortion activities.
“Sen. Tuberville has long been a stalwart pro-life champion, fighting against the increasing politicization and remaking of the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs into yet another pro-abortion proxy for Joe Biden’s administration,” said Hawkins. “We’re grateful for his leadership on this issue, forcing the government to show the taxpayers exactly what their tax dollars are doing to the mothers in our armed forces. We call upon other Members of Congress to Co-Sponsor and support this critical legislation, and we call upon the Biden administration to follow the laws of this country.”
Sen. Tuberville’s noted in an interview with Fox News that his introduction of VA Abortion Transparency Act of 2024 is based upon the rules from the Veterans Health Care Act of 1992, which, according to the article, “clearly prohibits the VA from providing abortion services of any kind.” Yet, the VA reported in October 2023 that in the previous year the VA facilitated 88 abortions.
The legislation is supported by Heritage Action, CatholicVote, National Right to Life, March for Life Action, Concerned Women for America, and Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, according to a press release from Sen. Tuberville’s office.
The data collected under the law would include abortions conducted surgically and through Chemical Abortion Pills, which face uncertainty about their future due to the ongoing Supreme Court Case U.S. Food & Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine.
