The SFLAction-inspired effort represents another opportunity for the U.S. Congress to support young families.
“Getting an education is a path out of poverty and toward hope and a future. As part of building a pro-life culture, Congress must act to protect pregnant and parenting students who are working to build a better life,” said Students for Life Action’s Kristan Hawkins.

Students for Life Action will score H.R. 6914, Pregnant Students’ Rights Act
WASHINGTON D.C. (01-12-2024) – Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins pledged the support of the Pro-Life Generation on behalf of the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act, introduced in the U.S. House by Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA). In the U.S. Senate, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has the leading role. This is the FIRST SFLAction inspired bill to be addressed in committee and headed for a vote.
“Women balancing school, pregnancy, and family deserve our support. Yet ironically too few students know about Title IX, the law that is supposed to protect their rights. This effort will require schools to communicate protections in place and commit to helping such pregnant and parenting students succeed on campus,” said Hawkins. “As the Pro-Life Generation knows, this is a long-term need and too common a problem.”
Students for Life of America’s Standing with You initiative includes many resources for pregnant and parenting women, including information on Title IX rights and requirements. For years, SFLA has been publicizing the Pregnant and Parenting Bill of Rights. Learn more here.

Title IX can be used to protect those trying to better their families through education. As we previously reported: “Ruth Asmarzadeh, suffered from Title IX violations after unexpectedly finding herself pregnant as a college student in Colorado. Due to the timing of her child’s birth, Ruth was physically unable to take her final exams. Her school refused to arrange another time for her to take the tests, resulting in her professors failing her and ultimately losing her financial aid. (Fortunately, Students for Life of America stepped in to help her through our Standing With You initiative.)”

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest, pro-life youth organization, managing a political and policy operation engaging Americans of all ages but with a special emphasis on the largest segment of voters — the Youth Vote. Together they provide political, legal, educational, and community support for women and children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA serves more than 1,400 groups on middle, high school, college, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with this generation targeted by the abortion lobby than any other pro-life operation in the world, each week reaching more than 4 million across social media platforms and averaging 1.3 million video views. SFLA has also launched multiple initiatives to lead and serve the future of the pro-life movement including the Campaign for Abortion Free Cities, Standing With You, and the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement . Over more than 17 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA and the Pro-Life Generation into a nearly $20M organization, now preparing for an abortion-free America.
