“In a show of force, the pro-life movement was able to better protect life in half of the country since Roe fell one year ago, but it’s not over yet. To prepare for the next session, SFLAction hosted the brightest minds and top state leaders to prepare a winning strategy. We will continue to build up a generation of leaders equipped to take on lies of the abortion lobby and strategically pass pro-life legislation at all levels of government,” said Dustin Curtis, SFLAction Vice President of Political Affairs & Operations.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (06-27-2023) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) hosted its third annual National Leadership Collective (NLC) this weekend where more than 200 students, staff, and pro-life legislators met in Washington, D.C. to discuss winning legislative strategies in a Post-Roe America while receiving training on key priorities for supporting both the preborn and women.
At the NLC, SFLAction awarded nine legislators for their tireless work to defend life in their respective states. Curtis said, “These pro-life champions file strong legislation like the Life at Conception Act, bills to end Chemical Abortion, and Heartbeat Abortion Prevention Acts. They force recorded votes even when their colleagues are screaming at them in closed doors meeting, even if they start out as the only one in the capital determined to protect the preborn, and even if it means risking their seat.”
The following state legislators and officials received a personal Pro-Life Champion Award for their efforts this legislative session:
- Senator Timothy Salazar
- Representative Sarah Penn
- Secretary of State Chuck Gray
- Representative Ocean Andrews
- Representative Mark Jennings
- Senator Bo Biteman
- Senator Nathan Dahm
- Representative Jim Olsen
- Senator Richard Cash
SFLAction gathered these legislators as well as 200+ students to engage in the biggest topics surrounding abortion and train each individual on how to ensure life remains a winning issue. Offering expertise in Chemical Abortion Pill education to drafting bills on #ProtectionAtConception, SFLAction made a whole-of approach to educate and activate the post-Roe generation.
Presidential candidate and Vice President Mike Pence spoke at the National Celebrate Life Day rally ensuring a clear path forward for America’s preborn children while fellow candidate and Governor Ron DeSantis met privatively with SFLAction to discuss legislative priorities.

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization and a political and policy operation engaging people of all ages. Together they work to end abortion — the human rights issue of our day — and provide political, legal, and community support for women and their children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA has more than 1,300 groups on middle, high school, college, university, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA creates strategy, policy, and programming to connect those most targeted for abortion with people ready to help and builds a framework for political engagement on their behalf. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with those most targeted by the abortion industry than any other pro-life outreach in the world, reaching more than 2 million people across social media platforms each week and engaging in approximately 100,000 digital conversations per month. Over more than 16 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA into an $18 million organization preparing for a Post-Roe America.
