Students for Life Action Celebrates Two Pro-Life Champions Winning Primary Races in Florida

“If the pro-abortion side wins the ballot initiative vote this November, all the progress made in Florida to protect preborn lives could be undone,” said SFLAction Vice President of Political Affairs Chanel Jacobs from Florida. “That’s why having pro-life champions elected to office, like the two who won their primary races tonight, are so critical. It gives us a fighting chance to continue to pass pro-life laws and protections for mothers and preborn children in Florida.”

TALLAHASSEE (08-20-2024) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) celebrates the election of two pro-life candidates and incumbents in the Florida senate and house primary races. Florida resident, SFLAction Vice President of Political Affairs Chanel Jacobs, said, “Florida faces one of the most important – and winnable – abortion ballot fights this November. Pro-life champion Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill that protects preborn life when the universal sign of life — a heartbeat – is confirmed. That humane law comes to an end if the radical abortion ballot measure succeeds in November. Tonight’s two primary winners will join those working to protect life in law and in service, standing up for mothers and preborn children in this election and in office.”

In this cycle, SFLAction sent 62,612 texts, made 54,964 calls, sent 16,252 pieces of mail, and knocked on 2,482 doors across six targeted districts to educate voters about the records of candidates.

Wins in targeted districts include:

  • House District 18: Kim Kendall
  • House District 20: Judson Sapp

Florida has been a hotspot for SFLAction lobbying, education, and advocacy activities for many years now. In 2024, this included:

  • Raising awareness and pushing for the passage of House Bill 1519, which would allow Florida women who illegally obtain pills out-of-state and then regret their abortions – which studies show are significant percentages of post-abortive women – to sue their abortionists.
