SFLAction will also Lobby for Additional Pro-Life Protections
“Limitless abortion through all nine months will be on the ballot this Fall because of the deceptively worded ballot initiative, but the pro-abortion industrial complex will never tell you that,” said Student for Life Action President, Kristan Hawkins. “Ballot initiatives have become a get-out-the-vote effort for the radical Left, and we appreciate Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody for bringing attention to this smokescreen where the stakes are literally life death.”

TALLAHASSEE, F.L. (2-5-2024) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) is heading to Tallahassee this week ahead of the scheduled Supreme Court hearing on the proposed Constitutional Amendment that would overturn existing state laws protecting life and give the pro-abortion extremists an even larger presence in one of America’s largest states. Joining with Florida Voice for the Unborn, SFLAction will also participate in a rally and host a lobby day.
MEDIA ADVISORY: Location: Florida Supreme Court, 500 South Duval St., Tallahassee. Date: Feb. 7. Time: 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. ET

“This ballot initiative represents a power grab by out of state mega-donors and the pro-abortion industrial complex designed to silence the voices of millions of Floridians who made it clear they support life when heartbeats were detected,” said Hawkins.
SFLAction has been actively supporting numerous “Decline to Sign” campaigns designed to push back against the intentionally confusing ballot language frequently weaponized by pro-abortion groups. In fact, 26 states allow for citizen-initiated ballot measures.

AFTER THE RALLY: SFLAction team members and student leaders will call upon legislators to support the Life at Conception Act, HB 1519, sponsored by Rep. Borrero and Rep. Beltran, echoing Florida Speaker of the House, Rep. Paul Renner, who said in December 2022 that he “believes that life begins at conception.”
This is a science-based position, and The American College of Pediatricians has said in no uncertain terms that: “human life begins at conception—fertilization. At fertilization, the human being emerges as a whole, genetically distinct, individuated zygotic living human organism, a member of the species Homo sapiens, needing only the proper environment in order to grow and develop.”

“When Rep. Renner says that he believes life begins at conception, we believe him – and we call upon the Florida Legislature to take up this science-based law to protect life in Florida, as they have done before,” said Hawkins.
