Students for Life Action says Donald Trump Now Teaches “How to Kill A Deal” with his Awkward Misstatements on Abortion

“In his book, the Art of the Deal, former President Donald Trump wrote, ‘Deals work best when each side gets something it wants from the other,’” SFLAction’s’ Kristan Hawkins noted. “Trump still wants the votes of the Pro-Life Generation, but it’s hard to see what he brings to the table given his waiving support defending innocent life at every level of government.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-20-2023) – Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins said that former President Donald Trump’s failure to understand a way forward on abortion, as illustrated in coverage today, was a “troubling sign” that he may not be able to lead going forward. Hawkins made the following statement: “When Roe v. Wade was ended, abortion as an issue returned to the American people. Abortion is a federal, state, and local issue, for leaders ready to fight on the human rights issue of our day. Former President Trump seems determined to write a new book, How to Kill a Deal, as he signals to those who once supported him that he may not be up to the task of protecting all American lives in law and in service.

“Across the country, legislation that respects and protects life from the first detection of a heartbeat is gaining ground, but there is a lot of room for action in Congress, as the Biden Administration illustrates every day. Anyone who doesn’t understand that abortion is a federal issue hasn’t been paying attention. But the Pro-Life Generation is watching to see who will champion mothers and their children, born and preborn. Everyone running for president needs to have a vision for how to defend life as early as possible, as the stake are truly life and death.”

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization and a political and policy operation engaging people of all ages. Together they work to end abortion — the human rights issue of our day — and provide political, legal, and community support for women and their children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA has more than 1,300 groups on middle, high school, college, university, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA creates strategy, policy, and programming to connect those most targeted for abortion with people ready to help and builds a framework for political engagement on their behalf. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with those most targeted by the abortion industry than any other pro-life outreach in the world, reaching more than 2 million people across social media platforms each week and engaging in approximately 100,000 digital conversations per month. Over more than 16 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA into an $18 million organization preparing for a Post-Roe America.
