WASHINGTON, DC (12-18-2024) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) will attend a pivotal hearing on the damaging impact of the weaponized use of the FACE Act, which has plagued peaceful pro-lifers since former President Bill Clinton signed it into law. Chairmen Jim Jordan and Chip Roy will head the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing, “Revisiting the Implications of the FACE Act: Part 2,” on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. ET. Witnesses include Senior Counsel and Vice President at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Erin Hawley, Senior Counsel at the Thomas More Society Steve Crampton, and Paul Vaughn, a pro-life advocate and FACE Act victim.

“With now 12 peaceful pro-life activists in federal prison due to supposedly violating the FACE Act, a few leaders in Congress see the need to bring to light this abuse of the law. Viewpoint discrimination seems at play, especially when you consider that Biden’s Justice Department has ignored acts of vandalism against Pregnancy Help Centers,” said Hamrick. “Reps. Roy and Jordan have long been allies and supporters of the pro-life movement. With their help, we hope to encourage Trump to follow through on pardoning peaceful pro-lifers and members of Congress to repeal the FACE Act, which restricts free speech and is antithetical to the U.S. Constitution.”

Having introduced the FACE Act Repeal Act of 2023 in the U.S. House, which would repeal the FACE Act, Rep. Roy, along with Rep. Jordan, will expose the weaponized FACE Act against pro-lifers from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Biden Administration throughout the entire 118th Congress.

- South Carolina man was convicted of the FACE Act for sitting in front of a Planned Parenthood entrance.
- A pro-life protestor named Mark Houck was arrested at his home in front of his children in 2022 for protesting peacefully outside of a Planned Parenthood facility.
- SFLAstaff member was likewise arrested for sidewalk-chalking on a public street in front of an abortion facility in Washington D.C. in 2021. Since then, the charges against the two students have been dropped, but the free speech case against the District of Columbia continues.
