Students for Life Action (SFLAction) is excited to see the Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, introduced and sponsored by Rep. Fischbach (R-MN-7) and Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ-4), making its way through committees and markups in the House.
Here’s what you need to know:
What’s At Stake?
The Biden administration and HHS is attempting to strip life affirming centers that have helped millions of women and families in need. It is clear the Biden administration and the HHS are not pro-women, just pro-abortion. The war against Pregnancy Resources has been waged by the pro-abortion industrial complex for many years now. Compare that to the abortion industry receives millions from taxpayers, corporate interests, and earns billions in revenue. And remember, the services and supplies, like diapers, from Pregnancy Care Centers are free, compared to those sold at the multi-billion-dollar abortion vendor, Planned Parenthood.
We’ve written before how the pro-abortion Democrats aren’t just happy that Roe is gone – they’re ecstatic that they can now pursue abortion without limits in the Women’s Health Protection Act.

What The Legislation Does
This legislation would prohibit the Secretary of Health and Human Services from restricting funding for pregnancy centers. These critically important centers offer more services than any abortion facility including Planned Parenthood, and virtually all for free. By giving women all their life affirming options when faced in an unexpected pregnancy, they show kindness and compassion that can save lives and help women flourish.
What We Have Said About The Issue
Students for Life Action and Students for Life of America’s research arm (the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement) found that two-thirds of Americans support funding for pregnancy resource centers. Also, pregnancy resource centers outnumber Planned Parenthoods 14-1.
What’s Next
The Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act is expected to be heard in the Rules Committee on January 16th and we are contacting members of Congress urging them to vote in favor of this bill. If the bill passes in the Rules Committee, we hope to see the bill on the House floor for a vote.
Students for Life of America’s Standing With You initiative connects women with local, state, and federal services – including local Pregnancy Care Centers. To find out the help available, free and subsidized, click here.
