The “Abortion on the Ballot” Battle Just Took an Interesting Turn…

Students for Life Action (SFLAction) has written extensively about how the Democrats have gone all in on abortion. It’s their number one campaign issue as they plan to use abortion as a crude get-out –the-vote tactic in key swing states this fall. Arizona, Florida, Missouri, South Dakota, Montana, and Nebraska will each be voting on whether they will let limitless abortion become the law of the land within their borders.

However, new analysis from The Wall Street Journal has a different take.

“The vote in Ohio last year to approve a ballot measure that protects abortion rights illustrates Mr. Teixeira’s point. Exit polls showed that liberals were 34% of voters, up from 20% in the 2022 midterms and 21% in 2020. “Voters said in exit polling that they backed Joe Biden over Trump in 2020, 45-43%,” ABC News reported. “But Trump won Ohio in that election, 53-45%.” The abortion measure passed largely because Trump voters stayed home, which is unlikely to happen in November. Mr. Trump leads Ms. Harris in Ohio by double digits.”

Now, this article was written last week – and things have changed quite a bit since then.

Despite some earlier controversy on the pro-abortion Amendment 4 in Florida, when President Trump said he thought six weeks was too short, he’s since announced his intentions to vote NO on Amendment 4 this November.

In doing so, the former President joined Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz and Greg Steube, among others, as vocal supporters for the Vote No on 4 campaign.

Even before all the factions of Republican Party seemed to unite to push back against this limitless abortion madness, Florida had a strong chance of defeating Amendment 4 due to its high passage requirements and Florida’s position as a deep red state.

Now it’s only more likely with Trump’s no vote, that enthusiasm to push back against it could translate to other states.

In Missouri, the most recent polling from St. Louis University / YouGov shows the pro-abortion ballot measure ahead by 2%. However, enthusiasm for Democrats in that state is way down, with reporting from The Missouri Independent saying, “I’d be very surprised if any Democrat won a statewide race this year,” poll director Steven Rogers said. “It’s not breaking news that Democrats struggle in statewide races in Missouri.”

That coupled with increasing awareness around what the Missouri abortion ballot does – limitless abortion up until birth – the chances it passes could be shrinking. Indeed, even in Florida, as more people become aware of what Amendment 4 would do, more and more people are against it. According to Florida’s Voice, “The most effective message was warning respondents that the amendment could allow abortion to be provided ‘beyond those licensed to perform’ the procedure, ‘potentially compromising the safety and well-being of women.’ For that ‘message test,’ 55% were less likely to back the measure.”

With just over 60 days (about 2 months) left to go until election day, and Trump firmly planting himself in the vote no camp, things are looking better and better.
