A Revamped Democratic Party Platform for Kamala Harris mentions Abortion THREE TIMES as much as the Biden-Harris edition (even if they did forget to completely erase the sitting President.)
The more things change, the more they stay the same – except when they don’t, as the Democratic Party’s2024 policy platform clearly demonstrates. Yes, at the 11th hour and right as the convention was starting, they deigned to show us lesser mortals what’s in the cards for the most radically pro-abortion and liberal Presidential ticket in modern American history. It got so bad, even Associate Press pointed it out, “The Democratic platform — essentially a document outlining goals and policy positions the party supports — has not been updated since a draft was released July 13, eight days before President Joe Biden abandoned his reelection bid and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.”
If you’ve read both platform documents in passing, you might think that the only thing that’s changed on the DNC Platform in the last four years is where Vice President Kamala Harris’ name is located on the yard signs.
In truth, the 2024 Platform is more far-reaching and extreme in its pronouncements and vitriol, tripling the number of times abortion is mentioned compared to the 2020 platform – a reflection of VP Harris’ comfort with discussing the only issue that the Democrats seem to be running on.
In a campaign short on policy and long on hyperbole, let’s dig deeper into the Harris-Walz wish list.
The 2020 Platform (When the beleaguered Biden was the head of the ticket):

Abortion / Reproductive Freedom mentions: Five
“We oppose and will fight to overturn federal and state laws that create barriers to women’s reproductive health and rights, including by repealing the Hyde Amendment and protecting and codifying the right to reproductive freedom.”
“Democrats will always protect sexual and reproductive health and rights. We believe that comprehensive health services, including access to reproductive care and abortion services, are vital to the empowerment of women and girls.”
“We will support the repeal of the global gag rule (also known as the Mexico City Policy) and measures like the Helms Amendment, which limit safe access to abortion.”
“We believe unequivocally, like the majority of Americans, that every woman should be able to access high-quality reproductive health care services, including safe and legal abortion. We will repeal the Title X domestic gag rule and restore federal funding for Planned Parenthood, which provides vital preventive and reproductive health care for millions of people, especially low-income people, and people of color, and LGBTQ+ people, including in underserved areas.”
“Democrats oppose and will fight to overturn federal and state laws that create barriers to reproductive health and rights. We will repeal the Hyde Amendment and protect and codify the right to reproductive freedom.”
“Democrats oppose restrictions on medication abortion care that are inconsistent with the most recent medical and scientific evidence and that do not protect public health.
The original platform is horrific in its own right. Now let’s compare that to what they’re saying in the post-Roe world of 2024.
The 2024 Platform (lead by Harris and Walz):
Abortion / Reproductive Freedom mentions: 15
“Trump’s Supreme Court appointees overturned Roe v Wade, eliminating a fundamental constitutional right and denying women across the nation the right to choose”
FACT CHECK / CONTEXT:
There was never a Constitutional right to abortion, because it’s not a right enumerated in the U.S. Constitution – though some ill-informed and malicious activists have argued otherwise. The Dobbs decision ultimately proved that.
“Over the past two years, more than 20 states have imposed extreme and dangerous abortion bans – many of which include no exception even for rape or incest – that put the health and lives of women in jeopardy, force women to travel hundreds of miles for care, and threaten to criminalize doctors for providing the health care that their patients need and that they are trained to provide.”
FACT CHECK / CONTEXT:
The myth that pro-life laws are dangerous or extreme doesn’t hold water. In fact, according to reporting by The Associated Press, “serious violations that jeopardized a mother or her fetus’ health occurred in states with and without abortion bans, the AP’s review found.”
And as noted in a recent report from The Daily Wire, “even if a woman with an ectopic pregnancy did need an abortion though, it would be legal — since every single state abortion ban allows abortions when the life of the mother is at risk.”
And doctors usually go to medical school to “do no harm” – that’s a big part of the Hippocratic Oath.
“The Administration is protecting access to abortion, including by creating a new path for pharmacies to dispense FDA-approved medication abortion and defending access in court. It is expanding reproductive health care for service members, veterans, and their family members.”
FACT CHECK / CONTEXT:
The Biden-Harris administration would be proud of its record on Chemical Abortion Pills, given that the majority of abortions happen because of these dangerous drugs. During the COVID crisis, the Biden Administration abused their control of the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) to allow No Test, Online Distribution of Chemical Abortion Pills that expose women to injury, infertility, death, and abusers, as well as creating potential environmental harms.
“The Administration is defending access to emergency medical care, including clarifying that federal law on emergency care preempts state abortion bans, educating patients on their rights, making it easier for patients who have been denied emergency care to file a complaint, and ensuring hospitals meet their legal obligations to offer care. It is challenging threats from Republicans to prosecute people who help women travel to a different state for abortion care, and helping states expand access under Medicaid for women who travel from states with bans. And we are ensuring access to accurate information and legal resources, including by launching ReproductiveRights.gov and convening more than 200 lawyers and advocates to support abortion-related legal defense services.”
FACT CHECK / CONTEXT:
Sadly, the Biden-Harris administration is clear-eyed that abortion is a federal issue and play the game to win. It’s plainly seen in the Democrats signature healthcare law, the Women’s Health Protection Act, would allow abortions to be conducted up until birth nationwide, without any ability for the states to push back, demand taxpayer funding, and trample on the conscience rights of medical professionals.
They have also waged a never-ending lawfare battle against pro-life activists and pro-life states.
The examples are legion:
- Pro-life organizations, like Students for Life of America (SFLA), were placed on a terrorist watch list. Twice.
- The FBI was caught targeting Catholics and pro-life groups, and as expected, no one lost their jobs.
- The Department of Justice (DOJ) targeted conservatives or weaponized the FACE Act against them, all without any reprisals for the clear bias of those attacks.
- The Biden-Harris administration sued the state of Idaho using EMTALA, and the recent Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to reverse their previous order that allowed Idaho to protect mothers and preborn children.
And we cannot forget the pro-abortion activists that have flooded into multiple states to get abortion on the ballot for the November elections.

“If he returns to the White House, Trump will ban abortion nationwide. And his allies plan to ban medication abortion nationwide, without Congress or the courts, by enforcing a law from the 1800s, including prosecuting women and doctors for sending or receiving medication abortion in the mail.”
FACT CHECK / CONTEXT:
President Donald Trump has made it clear he will not support a national abortion restriction law , however, addressing weaponized federal agencies that abuse their power is a good use of executive time. For example, the Comstock Act does indeed say that abortifacient materials, like Chemical Abortion Pills, cannot be mailed. Enforcing that would only be enforcing existing laws, not create new policy.
“And in his second term, President Biden will continue to support access to FDA-approved medication abortion, appoint leaders at the FDA who respect science, and appoint judges who uphold fundamental freedoms.”
FACT CHECK / CONTEXT:
It’s laugh out loud funny that this didn’t get copy-edited to ensure that the persons whose name on the platform wasn’t the guy who was muscled out by Democrat power brokers and their allies in the press.
But regarding the agenda, this is all true. We identified in a previous SFLAction article that the Biden-Harris Administration is the most pro-abortion in history. This is reflected in their many pro-abortion government appointments, including at The Department of Health and Human Services, the US Surgeon General, the Treasury Secretary, and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, among others.
Even the military now offers abortion services for the first time in its history.
But even with those appointed experts, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the federal government isn’t God after all. In their June 2024 6 to 3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ended the tyranny of the Chevron deference, which has been abused for decades to drive whatever policy agency a bureaucrat wants to force.

At the end of the day one thing becomes extremely clear: the Republican Party platform, even with its more trimmed language on the issue of defending preborn lives is MILES better than the pro-abortion screed pushed by the Democrats this week in Chicago.
And there’s good news within that: the Pro-Life Generation is still working to forge a new pro-life deal.
