VICTORY: The Pro-Life Ruling in Arizona Is Only the Beginning – Abortion WILL Be on The Ballot in November

“The Arizona Supreme Court chose life today, ensuring abortions are done under very limited circumstances and preborn babies have the chance at life – but the abortion lobby in Arizona is far from beaten,” said Chanel Prunier, VP of Political Affairs. “Despite this ruling from the Arizona Supreme Court, the Pro-Life Generation must mobilize to ensure that voters are educated and aware of the unbelievable barbarism that Arizona’s abortion ballot initiative will write into their Constitution if successful.”

PHOENIX, AZ (04-09-2024) Students for Life Action (SFLAction) Vice President of Political Affairs Chanel Prunier called today’s decision by the Arizona Supreme Court “a fantastic, but possibly temporary win for preborn babies and mothers – the real fight remains on the horizon in November when unlimited abortion will be on the ballot.” The decision overturns an Arizona appellate court panel ruling in December 2022 that stated a 15-week restriction would remain in place.

“Today’s ruling gives Arizona’s precious preborn babies a chance to breath,” said Prunier. “But this battle is only the beginning. Arizona voters are about to be faced with a ballot question that would legalize abortion through all nine months of pregnancy with no restrictions, paid for with tax dollars. It goes too far and current laws crafted by legislators who have been elected and re-elected repeatedly show that voters do want abortion limits. The people of Arizona should not be tricked into putting unlimited abortion in their constitution. This is all part of the broader Democrat strategy – to use abortion as a get-out-to-vote tactic to run from their real record on the unsecured southern border, unaffordable food, gas, and housing, and a dangerously inept foreign policy.”

Recent news suggests that the pro-abortion group Arizona for Abortion Access, a pro-abortion coalition with support from organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Arizona, Arizona List, and Planned Parenthood of Arizona, may have collected the signatures they need to put abortion on the ballot in November.

The proposed law would establish “fundamental entitlement” for individuals to get an abortion at any point before 23 to 24 weeks gestation (around five and half months of pregnancy) – far exceeding the 15 weeks that Arizona previously held.

“Limitless abortion awaits Arizona’s families if the abortion ballot initiative wins in November,” said Prunier. “We stand with Arizona pro-life organizations and will seek to educate voters on what the ballot question would really mean so it can be defeated, and to ensure that pro-life voters are informed and mobilized to bring forth a Presidential Administration that will enact pro-life protections and cease its attacks on them.”

SFLAction is active across the country and supports multiple Decline to Sign” campaigns pushing back against the signature collection campaigns that intentionally use confusing ballot language and are weaponized by pro-abortion groups.
