Denying the truth doesn’t change it, but the abortion lobby unfortunately needs to be reminded of that. Time and time again, abortion supporters make claims that are verifiably false in efforts to sway public opinion and mislead voters, and The View host Whoopi Goldberg is the most recent example. In one of the latest segments of the show, Goldberg sparred over the reality of late-term abortions with none other than South Carolina Representative Nancy Mace — and while Mace is usually a less-than-ideal candidate to defend the pro-life movement, she made some good points. You know what they say about broken clocks and blind squirrels.

During the show, Mace was praised as a “voice of moderation” on abortion — which, to be completely clear, is decidedly not a compliment. (You’re iffy on whether human life is sacred and if our rights matter all the time? Good for you?) When asked where she thought the Republican Party was going wrong with the abortion issue, Mace responded that we shouldn’t be “demonizing women,” and we agree with her on this one…sort of, anyways.
We absolutely should not demonize women in any vulnerable situation. That includes women in unplanned pregnancies, as well as women (and men!) in the womb.
Instead, we should be working to empower women who need support through their pregnancies and parenting. We also should be working to protect women (and men!) in the womb, respecting their lives from the moment of conception. And here’s the beautiful thing: that’s exactly what the pro-life movement is doing with life-affirming laws and supportive service resources, like Students for Life of America’s Standing With You initiative.
As Mace continued to discuss her lukewarm ideas on protecting life, Goldberg asked, “There’s no law on the books that says you have to have an abortion. Isn’t that my choice if my doctor and I feel that that is the best way for me? Because if I’m a nice Jewish girl or I’m a girl who has a different religious belief, why am I being held to someone else’s religious beliefs?”
Herein lies the problem of picking some arbitrary moment to begin to protect life — because when we step away from the scientific consensus that life begins at conception and the moral truth that all life is worth protecting, who’s to say when such protection should start?
While answering Goldberg, Mace did make a solid point, saying: “You can’t say…you don’t want the government in the room with the doctor and the woman because those who want the government to pay for it want the government in the room with the doctor and the woman. You can’t have it both ways.”
As Goldberg continued to push back, Mace replied, “Well, right now the states have the right to do whatever they want. In California and New York, it’s all the way up until nine months…”

California Governor Gavin Newsom
And that’s where she was cut off, which is too bad because she was onto something. In truth, six states and Washington D.C. allow abortion through all nine months.
Goldberg interrupted, “Let’s stop that. No one, no doctor, no hospital will take a baby at nine months for an abortion.”
No one? Sorry, did you mean to say basically the entire Democrat Party? To her credit, Mace began to name off such politicians including California Governor Gavin Newsom, Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden, and others that will not be forthright about their limits on abortion.

While Goldberg and others like her don’t want to admit it, the reason we never hear about these limits is because the Democrat Party on the whole doesn’t believe in any. Here’s what you need to recognize about their speech. They’ll never say, “I believe in abortion up through all nine months for any reason.” But what will they say?
Goldberg said it herself multiple times through this segment: “It’s always up to the woman.”
Nearly 70% of Millennials and Gen Z believe abortion should be limited in all or some circumstances. Learn more about from this 2023 YouGov-Vinea poll released by SFLA.
