“The Democrats will use anything to hold onto power this November, including putting thousands of preborn babies lives at risk through the most extreme expansion of state abortion law. This is a blatant attempt to try and save Sen. Jon Tester’s seat and prop up the sagging Harris-Walz ticket,” said Students for Life Action Vice President of Political Chanel Jacobs. “Montana’s ballot initiative is a cynical get-out-the-vote effort, treating the preborn as pawns in some political game. Pro-Life Generation voters and volunteers will be in Bozeman this weekend fighting for mothers and their children – born and preborn.”

BOZEMAN, MT (09-06-2024) – This weekend, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) students and volunteers will gather in Bozeman to educate Montanans about the barbaric, late-term abortion ballot push, attempting to force abortion through all nine months into the state constitution. SFLAction Vice President of Political Affairs Chanel Jacobs said, “Montana is facing a critically important U.S. Senate race, and the Harris-Walz Democrats are using abortion as a crude get-out-the-vote tactic to save Sen. Jon Testers’ flailing Senate campaign. Only a deeply cynical presidential campaign would use abortion through all nine months, risking the lives of babies and mothers, to deflect attention away from their policy failures on everything from the border to the economy. We are going to tell the voters of Montana the truth: this ballot initiative would turn this state into an abortion tourism hot spot just like Oregon or California.”
In June 2024, SFLAction celebrated the election of three pro-life leaders in the state primary races, after sending out 6,876 text messages, and making 4,371 phone calls across four targeted districts.
SFLAction has engaged lawmakers and voters in Montana, supporting the passage of SB 154, a measure sponsored by State Sen. Keith Regier (R-Kalispell) that would correctly define the “Right to Privacy” in the Montana Constitution to disqualify the right to abortion.
Recently, SFLAction released its second Pro-Life Generation Report Card, scoring the 118th Congress on key pro-life votes, legislation co-sponsorships, and stances in defense of the preborn so far this Congressional cycle. The four U.S. House of Representatives and two U.S. Senators’ pro-life voting records resulted in an averaged total score of a “B-” for Montana.
This fall, numerous other states – including swing states like Arizona, Nebraska and Florida – are facing abortion ballot initiatives. To push back against this pro-abortion blitz, SFLAction kicked off its own abortion ballot initiative campaign featuring state specific information, resources, and messaging kits for the “Vote No” campaign.
