“Faced with confusing language and misinformation, voters who supported late-term abortion ballot referendums did so against their better judgment. Despite decades of abortion industry lobbying to sell a lie that no one is buying, the Demetree Institute for Advancement found in our survey of voters exiting poll locations that most young voters still want limits on abortion,” Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “With seven new states becoming late-term abortion destinations, the Pro-Life Generation will deploy several new strategies that will educate young voters & provide the tools they need to reverse the devastating impact of these extreme amendments to better reflect voter values.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (11-20-2024) – The Pro-Life Generation’s (PLG) research arm, Demetree Institute for Advancement, conducted a survey of voters exiting polling locations on and around college campuses to determine the reasons for their abortion ballot measure votes. The data showed overwhelming support for abortion restrictions: three out of four youth voters in ballot referendum states said they didn’t want abortion up until nine months, with less than half of them voting “yes” on unrestricted abortion.
“All the money spent by a billion-dollar abortion machine has been a wrecking ball of false statements and fear-mongering to pressure voters to support abortion, but that doesn’t mean young voters want abortion up until birth,” said Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins. In fact, in talking with voters who prioritized abortion in their vote, more than half voted for LIFE rather than radical late-term abortion.
“This entire election season, we’ve been told that voters care about the abortion issue – and they do – but they didn’t want more abortion. Our survey of voters near college campuses is even more powerful when you consider that 57% self-identified as more pro-choice to 37 % who called themselves pro-life,” noted Hawkins.
A memo published at the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement reports that “Pro-abortion ballot referendums may have temporarily served as a one-trick pony to get out the vote for a lackluster Democratic candidate this round, but it only further galvanized the Pro-Life Movement with the truth we’ve known all along: the American people do not want more abortion.”
Consider other post-election polling. For voters who said that abortion was their most important issue, one in four went for President-Elect Trump over the most radical pro-abortion ticket in U.S. history. The Youth Vote – always presumed to be pro-abortion – also voted for Trump in record numbers.

Throughout the 2024 election, pro-life organizations and groups were wildly outspent. The abortion industry’s abundance of advertising money, including $100 million in Florida, created an uphill battle. Earling this year, the House Democratic PAC launched a $100 million effort to advance late-term abortion ballot initiatives, and another Democratic group bragged they had launched a $25 million effort to target Trump on abortion.
