A Lot of Work at the Federal Level is Needed to Undo the Damage Joe Biden Has Done on Life

March 7, 2024

You’d be forgiven for laughing if someone told you that the pro-abortion crowd only views Joe Biden’s presidency as a partial success. At least that’s the consensus according to an article from Politico. According to the breakdown:

“Biden has used his executive authority aggressively to increase abortion access by, for example, making it easier to obtain abortion pills and by agreeing to pay for service members’ travel for abortion. But Congress would have to pass a law to restore Roe’s protections nationwide.

He began efforts to shore up abortion rights as soon as he was elected.

In his first 100 days in office, Biden broadened access to abortion pills, reversed restrictions on funding Planned Parenthood and overseas groups that provide abortion referrals and removed hurdles to medical research that uses fetal tissue obtained from abortions.”

This is sadly all correct. This is only a small window into the “accomplishments” of the most rabidly pro-abortion presidential administration in modern history, which has used federal agencies and powers to push a pro-abortion agenda wherever they can.

Here are some of the highlights:

The Biden administration hasn’t been shy about their intentions for expanding beyond Roe. Though they haven’t signed it into law yet, the pro-abortion Democrats signature law, the Women’s Health Protection Act, would allow abortions to be conducted up until birth nationwide without any ability for the states to push back while demanding taxpayer funding and trampling on the conscience rights of medical professionals.

Several Congressional committees, when controlled by the Democrat majority in the 117th Congress, were likewise committed to finding ways to expand access to abortion:

  • The House Oversight and Accountability Committee
  • The House Oversight and Reform Committee
  • The House Energy and Commerce Committee
  • The House Ways and Means Committee
  • The Senate Judiciary Committee
  • The Senate Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions Committee
  • The Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee

Because of the Biden administration’s actions, abortion is now firmly a federal issue; they’ve done far too much for it to be anything else ever again.

As we noted in a separate Students for Life Action blog, strategically utilizing the administrative state and government regulations, pro-lifers can turn the tables on pro-abortion extremists occupying the government.

Thankfully, this is part of the stated strategy of former President Trump’s allies, who are planning their own march on the institutions, just as the Democrats did in the past. According to reporting from Axios

“Allies of former President Trump are looking to crack down on abortion should the GOP frontrunner secure another White House term later this year.

Though the plans come from the Heritage Foundation — not the Trump campaign — the think tank is highly influential in Republican circles, and its Project 2025 is the most sophisticated pre-transition planning effort to date.

Heritage’s detailed plans underscore conservatives’ long-held grievances toward the Department of Health and Human Services — at a time when they are well-positioned to sway abortion policy if Trump wins again.

In the document, Heritage asserts that the federal health department should “return to being known as the Department of Life.”

For whatever reason, this stated approach and strategy has created outrage, exposing the one directional hypocrisy of the pro-abortion Democrats. Thankfully, their behaviors have shown us what can be done and how far we can go federally. No doubt that it’s a double-edged sword – but it’s one that the pro-life movement absolutely needs to wield to save preborn lives.
